Unsere Fischsammlung
Fische sind mit rund 35.000 bekannten Arten die vielfältigste Gruppe der Wirbeltiere. Sie besiedeln fast sämtliche wasserführende Lebensräume der Erde. Forschung und Sammlung der Sektion Ichthyologie (Fischkunde) des Museum Koenig in Bonn widmen sich dieser Vielfalt.
Forschungs- und Sammlungsschwerpunkt liegt auf Fischen des Süßwassers. Themen der Forschung reichen von der Dokumentation von Artenvielfalt zu Mechanismen von Evolutionsprozessen, die dieser Vielfalt zugrunde liegen. In Projekten kombinieren wir morphologische und ökologische Ansätze, um zu verstehen, wie Fische sich ihren sehr verschiedenen Lebensräumen angepasst haben.
Die Belegsammlung der Sektion Ichthyologie umfasst rund 140.000 Präparate, die meisten davon sind in Alkohol konserviert. Die Sammlung dient als Beleg für das Vorkommen von Arten in Raum und Zeit, aber auch als Quelle morphologischer, teils auch genetischer Information. Ein Großteil der Exemplare ist digital erfasst, zugänglich über das digitale Sammlungsportal.
Die Sektion Ichthyologie wurde 1945 gegründet. Erster Kurator war Karl Heinz Lüling, gefolgt 1978 von Klaus Busse und 2008 von Fabian Herder.
