Spinnentiere
Die Sektion Arachnida betreut in kuratorischer Hinsicht neben den Spinnentieren auch die "basalen" Hexapoden (primär ungeflügelte Insekten, Eintagsfliegen, Libellen) sowie die Pantopoden und Krebse. Die Sammlung umfasst etwa 70.000 Exemplare mit Schwerpunkten auf echten Spinnen, Milben, Pantopoden und Libellen. Im Mittelpunkt der Forschung stehen Fragen zur Systematik, Phylogenie und Biologie der Spinnen, insbesondere der Zitterspinnen, sowie zur Funktion und Evolution von Kopulationsorganen bei Arthropoden.
