Zweiflügler wie Fliegen
Die Abteilung Diptera beherbergt die Sammlungen der Diptera, aber auch kleineren Ordnungen wie Siphonaptera, Strepsiptera, Embioptera, Mecoptera, Megaloptera, Raphidioptera und Neuroptera.
Unsere Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen im Bereich der Systematik und Taxonomie der Echten Fliegen (Diptera), wobei sowohl molekulare (DNA Taxonomie) als auch morphologische Merkmale berücksichtigt werden. Zusätzlich sind auch die Ökologie unreifer Fliegenstadien, sowie Phylogenomik und andere moderne Methoden im phylogenetischen Bereich von Interesse für unsere Arbeit.
Die Abteilung ist auch im Projekt "German Barcode of Life" (GBol) involviert, ein einzigartiges Vorhaben das anstrebt eine genetische Bibliothek der gesamten Flora und Fauna Deutschlands zu erarbeiten. Auch sind wir sehr aktiv in der Cybertaxonomie, stellen qualitativ hochwertige Bilder, Rohdaten und Informationen zur Literatur auf diversen Servern wie Encyclopedia of Life (via LifeDesks) und Scratchpads zur Verfügung.
