Arachnids
In addition to arachnids, the Arachnida section also curates the "basal" hexapods (primarily wingless insects, mayflies, dragonflies) as well as pantopods and crustaceans. The collection comprises around 70,000 specimens with a focus on real spiders, mites, pantopods and dragonflies. Research is focussed on the systematics, phylogeny and biology of spiders, in particular trembling spiders, as well as the function and evolution of copulatory organs in arthropods.
