Animal husbandry and arable farming on common areas, integration of flower strips and trees in agricultural land, water and soil protection and much more: a diverse agricultural landscape not only helps nature, but also secures our food base and the yields of agricultural businesses.
More colourful agriculture
Our researchers work closely with farmers in joint projects to find out how biodiversity on arable land can be increased with flower strips in agricultural landscapes, interlinking field edge structures, different crop rotations or the cultivation of mixed crops and an overall more colourful agriculture.
Ecology and economy
The aim is to reconcile ecology and economy and to see how the different measures work and how pest control can function without pesticides wherever possible. More biodiversity can bring greater and more stable yields, so biodiversity is a production factor.
