Molecular laboratory, Bonn

Our task

Since 1997, the molecular laboratory at the Museum Koenig Bonn has steadily developed into an essential part of the LIB research area.
The conditions for genomic, population genetic and phylogenetic work are optimally realised and are used in a large number of projects.

In the laboratory, we use PCR techniques, microsatellite analysis and library preparation for high-throughput sequencing. Long-read sequencing for genomic analyses is used intensively. A key objective is to use the museum site with its extensive collections to answer questions of evolutionary biology on the basis of molecular biological data.
