We humans are part of nature. However, our connection to animals and plants is fading to the same extent that our knowledge of fauna, flora and the connections between all life on our planet is dwindling. The LIB wants to break this downward spiral. At the Centre for Knowledge Transfer (zwt ), we want to inspire our visitors with exhibitions, events and educational programmes about the diversity of species and habitats and promote a comprehensive understanding and commitment to a sustainable future.
Inspiring enthusiasm for nature
At the Museum Koenig Bonn and Museum der Natur Hamburg as well as on excursions, we offer everyone the opportunity to feel part of nature, to discuss its use with our researchers and to reflect on our resource-intensive consumer behaviour.
References to everyday life
We want to make the possibilities and significance of science transparent for everyone and show why and how we can research biodiversity and its changes and how we can protect it. In doing so, we address current everyday topics and take into account the expectations and behaviour of our museum visitors based on our research analyses.
Knowledge transfer in the LIB
Together with the other research museums of the Leibniz Association, the LIB is becoming a cornerstone of knowledge transfer. The explanation of biodiversity, its change and relevance for our society are the focus of the programmes and activities. Educational and outreach programmes in cooperation with schools, universities and other educational institutions aim to raise awareness of the ecological challenges facing our planet.
