Hymenoptera (bees, wasps and ants)
In addition to the Hymenoptera, the Hymenoptera section also curates the Heteroptera, "Homoptera", Orthopteroidea (including Mantodea, Blattodea, Dermaptera, Phasmatodea and Saltatoria) and Phthiraptera. It currently comprises approx. 160,000 individuals from approx. 15,500 taxa, including collections (or parts thereof) from Wilhelm Aerts, Dietrich Bornhalm, Johannes Gallasch, Sigfrid Ingrisch, A. Jacobi, Johann Klapperich, Heinrich Klockenhoff, Richard Meinertzhagen, Rene Oberthür, August Reichensperger, R. Roesler, A. Schoop, Josef Szijj as well as the insect collections of Cologne Zoo and the disbanded Fuhlrott Museum in Wuppertal.
