Mitteilungen aus dem Hamburgischen Zoologischen Museum und Institut

The Mitteilungen aus dem Hamburgischen Zoologischen Museum und Institut (also Mitteilungen aus dem naturhistorischen Museum in Hamburg and Mitteilungen aus dem Zoologischen Staatsinstitut und Zoologischen Museum in Hamburg) was a scientific journal dedicated to publishing research on zoology, earth sciences and related fields. It was established in 1883 and 106 volumes were published until 2009. Several special issues were also published during this time.

The journal primarily focused on studies of animal behaviour, taxonomy, systematics, and the biology of various species, particularly those from the Hamburg area or studied by researchers at the Hamburg Zoological Museum and Institute.

The journal is no longer in publication, but it remains an important historical resource for those studying the evolution of zoological science, particularly in the context of German research institutions.

Historical issues (published before 1930) in particular can be found here:

In 2009, the Mitteilungen aus dem Hamburgischen Zoologischen Museum und Institut concluded.

Since 2017, the Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change (LIB), together with its two research museums (Museum der Natur Hamburg and Museum Koenig Bonn), has been publishing the journal Evolutionary Systematics (ed.). Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts to this new journal:
