Description

Biodiversity Genomics Europe plus (BGE+) aims to harness the power of genomic science and DNA-based reference resources to strengthen taxonomic approaches to biodiversity in Europe, enhancing understanding of species and genetic diversity, broadening participation, building skills, developing protocols and solutions, promoting policy uptake, and laying the foundations for a European biodiversity genomics system.
The project capitalises on developments in genomics, previous work carried out at European level, and large-
-community participation, to catalyse transformative change in the characterisation, conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.

BGE+ has four objectives:

(1) to broaden participation and capacity across Europe;

(2) to ensure that distributed genomic data production is interoperable and FAIR by design;

(3) translate evidence into practice through co-designed use-case roadmaps; and

(4) to define the service portfolio and assess the financial and technical feasibility of a future European research infrastructure in biodiversity genomics.

Tasks of the LIB

LIB aims to coordinate cascade-funded projects under BGE+ and contribute to the further strengthening of a European biodiversity genomics system.
