How are our consumption and biodiversity in rainforests connected? The new, participatively developed topic area "The rainforest and you" on the Museum Koenig Bonn's digital learning platform "Discover Nature Online" (NEO) shows this. The multimedia programme for schools and families provides insights into the LIB's rainforest research and exhibition.

Rainforests are full of life - just like the new themed area on NEO. Exciting information, photos, games, videos and much more invite you to discover the LIB's activities on rainforests and sustainable consumption. LIB researcher and preparator Ricarda Wistuba explains in an interview what makes the rainforest exhibition at Museum Koenig so special: "There's a lot of attention to detail and a lot of precise work - and I don't think there's another one like it." She also talks about her research trips to Ecuador and explains why research is so important: "Because you can only protect what you know." Student interns from Museum Koenig also present their favourite objects in the rainforest exhibition, and users of the new themed area can playfully find out how they can protect rainforests when shopping.

"The Rainforest and You" was created together with young people as part of a project by the LIB and the Alexander Koenig Society, which was funded by the North Rhine-Westphalia Foundation for Environment and Development . The young people took part in workshops on the topic of rainforests and sustainable consumption at Museum Koenig for a year and were trained as multipliers. They developed the ideas for the new topic area together with the team from the Education and Communication department with the aim of sensitising others to the importance of biodiversity and their own options for action. The young people are even represented on NEO with their own rap song, which they wrote and recorded together with the culture station.

NEO is our digital learning platform for children and young people on the diversity of life on our planet. It offers exciting teaching and learning opportunities in the spirit of education for sustainable development: interactive educational games, multimedia content, adventurous expeditions, a creative fantasy world and lots of inspiration for your own nature conservation activities. Users can explore NEO from the comfort of their classroom or at home. A special nature experience that inspires young and old.
