Description of the

In this study, we used a global approach to correlate the activity patterns of different bird groups with their brain structure. We used micro-computed tomography (μCT) images as a data basis, reconstructed these three-dimensionally ("endocasts") and analysed possible correlations between the brain structure and the activity patterns of the birds (e.g. diurnal vs. nocturnal). For the μCT images, we use skull specimens from the ornithological collection of the Museum Koenig as well as scans from previously published work.
