The "Highlights of Nature Photography" were sought for the 25th time.
This year, 19,736 images were submitted by photographers from 33 countries. 2,747 images were entered for the Fritz Pölking Award and 457 for the Junior Award. The result is impressive proof of the high reputation of the Glanzlichter and clearly demonstrates the high regard in which the nature photography competition has been held both nationally and internationally for many years.
Photographers have had the opportunity to submit their pictures since August. Steffi Lemke, Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, is once again the patron of this year's Glanzlichter. The award of the patronage of the "German Association for Photography" is also a tribute to the high Glanzlichter standard. The Glanzlichter sponsors from the photography industry provide prizes totalling over €28,000.
The judges took four days to assess all the pictures. It was only then that this year's winners of the Glanzlichter were decided. This year's jury consisted of Gisela Pölking, nature photographer, who selected the image for the Fritz Pölking Award, Willi Rolfes and Uwe Wuller, nature photographers and organisers, as well as the organiser of the nature photography competition and nature photographer Mara Fuhrmann.
