Questionnaire: Dr Karen Meusemann

Your Title, Name, Place of work?
Dr. Karen Meusemann, Bonn

What is your current position/function at our institute?
Scientific Assistant (Directorate staff)

What do you like about your job/position?
Besides the special atmosphere of a modern natural history museum, I especially like that my work is so diverse in any aspect and that I get to work with so many different great people. I learn something new every day – personally and “scientifically“ – in connection with natural sciences and biodiversity research. Even though it’s not always “easy” – it never gets boring and I really appreciate working in an environment where I simply enjoy going to work.

Can you please describe your tasks at the LIB?
My task is connecting scientists, to represent the LIB outside the institute, to help in coordination and organization of research projects and support the directorate and other scientists wherever I can in biodiversity research.

Is there something about the Institute that particularly appeals to you?
The diversity of research fields, of people and the opportunity to network all this and discover new things, to learn and to inspire others again and again for biodiversity. I am enabled to think big and dare to do big things.
