Questionnaire: Dr Carolina Corrales Duque

Your Title, Name, Place of work?
Dr Carolina Corrales Duque, Bonn

What is your current position/function at our institute?
Coordinator Citizen Science BIOSCAN, Metabarcoding section

What do you like about your job/position?
This is the second project I coordinate within the museum. This position gives me a lot of flexibility and the possibility to work from home. One of the best things is networking, as one gets to know scientists from all around the world with different backgrounds, who are willing to share their expertise and knowledge.

Can you please describe your tasks at the LIB?
My main tasks include the communication with European partners to reach project goals and the organization of citizen science workshops. Furthermore, I have just developed a handbook on biobanking best practices, as part of the Synthesys+ project.

Is there something about the Institute that particularly appeals to you?
The working atmosphere at the museum is very pleasant, but what I like the most is the diversity of knowledge, and the possibilities of interdisciplinary studies. People are usually open minded to new projects and ideas and that is very encouraging for early career scientists.
