From a small piece of fresh tissue, it is possible to cultivate viable cells and store them permanently for many purposes. Cells are an expandable resource for high quality DNA, RNA, chromosomes, allowing the characterization of biodiversity. The main objective of my work is to archive living cells from different vertebrate species (hopefully soon invertebrate as well!) as a backup strategy in species conservation efforts. I also develop new protocols for better biobanking practices.
