What is your current position/function at our institute?
Collection Assistant Department Arachnology, ztm (Centre for Taxonomy and Morphology)

What do you like about your job/position?
My job enables me to travel the world and discover new species that have never been seen before. I have the unique chance to discover and describe new species, in hope that it will help protect them in the future. I also work with one of the most important arachnid collections in Germany, with very old and unique specimens.

Can you please describe your tasks at the LIB?
My work consists of curating, taking care of the Chelicerata (spiders, scorpion, mites et…) collection which holds more than 1 million specimens. I also teach, help students to identify arachnids thus they learn about taxonomy and diversity. I am also involved in research projects mainly discovering Ecuador hidden spider diversity, as such I get to travel, collect and describe numerous new spider species.

Is there something about the Institute that particularly appeals to you?
The Institute enables us to work and produce high-quality research, we have access to multiple facilities and technologies to support our research interests and promote science. In-house we have multiple experts working on a wide range of research subjects, from taxonomy, phylogenetics, molecular biology, and paleontology to name a few, this enables us to exchange ideas and come up with new research ideas.
