Speed Dating with Science – The LIB Participates in “Book a Scientist”

Why should we better understand biodiversity? What does it have to do with conservation? How is “Wildlife Forensics” connected to species preservation? And what exactly do we do at the LIB? On October 15, you’ll find answers to all these questions—and more. It’s time again for “Book a Scientist”!

At the online speed-dating event “Book a Scientist,” interested individuals can find out on October 15, 2024, by engaging with our researchers and those from other Leibniz Institutes and Leibniz Museums. Participants can ask everything they’ve always wanted to know.

Here’s how it works: On the “Book a Scientist” page of the Leibniz Association, all conversation partners available for a “date” are listed. This includes researchers from other fields that we at the LIB do not specialize in, such as agriculture, weather, or linguistics, from Leibniz Institutes across Germany, divided into nine different categories.

Once you’ve found your favorite topic and the right conversation partner, simply arrange an appointment via email. On October 15, you’ll have 25 minutes to ask, discuss, or engage in specialized conversations. The sessions take place online from 10:00 to 11:30 AM and from 4:00 to 5:30 PM. Appointments can be booked immediately.

Among the 141 topics available, three experts from the LIB are included:

  • Dr. Annika Mozer on illegal wildlife trade and “Wildlife Forensics”
  • Dr. Katja Waskow on the fascination of biodiversity – why nature attracts and makes us happy
  • Albia Consul on how we can strengthen species conservation and the “KennArt” project
